Specialist insight business The Wholesale Company (TWC) has appointed former HIM co-owner Tom Fender as its development director.
As well as his work with HIM, Fender has also invested in start-up e-learning firm, Bolt Learning, in 2013, and lead the sales and marketing effort as investor/director which was bought by private equity firm, Aliter Capital, in early 2019.
“I have been a long-time admirer of both Tanya Pepin and TWC,” said Fender “ I have watched their progress from the side-lines for over a decade. Tanya’s knowledge and passion for the wholesale sector is immense – this was a key reason for me wanting to join her and the team to support the next phase of exciting growth.”
“Generally, I want to work with small, specialist businesses with high growth opportunities – ones where there is a family feel and a culture of high-quality products and services. TWC certainly ticks all of those boxes. I’ve also wanted to work with sales data for many years – it’s a gap in my illusionary CV – but the fact that TWC is strategically combining data and analytics with technology was a big selling point for me,” he added.
Tanya Pepin, chief executive of TWC, said “Within our market sectors there are some inspirational, highly entrepreneurial individuals who have made a real impact, commanding unilateral respect for their achievements and expertise. Tom is one of those people – he has made a real mark as a serial entrepreneur and he fully appreciates the power of data and insight and how the two work together to underpin and accelerate business success.”
