The UK cider market is continuing to grow year on year, with sales increasing by 5.3% to £1.19bn in the off-trade in 2018, according to Westons Cider’s annual report.
Volumes also rose by 2.8% to 529 million litres, while 47.8% of all households now regularly buy cider, insight and innovation manager Matthew Langley said: “The number of cider shoppers has also risen by 3.8% compared to the previous year.”
The findings were presented in London by the cider company, which has also refreshed the branding of its Stowford Press product. The redesign follows the launch of ‘The Wonderfulness of Local’ campaign last summer.
“The eye-catching new branding for Stowford Press has been designed to increase stand out on shelf,” explained brand manager Holly Chadwick. “The updated design will also strengthen the brand’s positioning as a premium mainstream option for shoppers by emphasising the passion, pride and expertise that goes into every drop of Stowford Press.”
