Wholesale and convenience industry invited to sign up for events charter

The FWD and the ACS have relaunched the Wholesale and Convenience Standards and Dignity Charter, which aims to reassure event attendees that they will be mixing with people who will follow the highest standards of conduct at industry events.

Businesses who sign up will be sent the Standards & Dignity badge to display on all promotional materials. Their own logo will be added to the Charter on the FWD and ACS websites.

THE DIGNITY AT WORK STANDARD
We strive to provide a harassment free environment within our shops, depots, warehouses and offices and at industry events
We will respect each other’s personal space and time.
We will always remember we are representing our businesses at all times
We will be receptive to and take seriously reports of behaviour, from members of our own company, that contradicts this commitment.
All incidents will be referred back to the relevant HR department or
business owner.
We will not tolerate anyone being subject to physical, sexual, racial, psychological, verbal or any other form of harassment, bullying or abuse.

FWD chief executive James Bielby said: “We are relaunching the Charter as the trade gets back to meeting face-to-face, to remind everyone that this a sector where everyone should feel comfortable and supported working not just with their own colleagues, but with partners from other businesses.  Promoting high standards based on common standards, with the Standards and Dignity stamp on events, can help us to attract and retain the best people to our sector, and for them to feel safe and valued.”

ACS chief executive James Lowman added: “It is non-negotiable that people working in our industry need to feel safe and respected all the time they are working. This charter promotes common sense principles around good behaviour and I’m really pleased that businesses running events in the sector and many of the industry’s biggest brands are actively promoting the charter.”
