Criminal leader Zeno Gugulan in the Channel 4 documentary

A gang of shoplifters sold their stolen goods through wholesaler Prime Value Distribution, a new Channel 4 Dispatches documentary has revealed.

Called the ‘Morrisons Four’ by police, the gang stole £120,000 worth of goods from supermarkets on the orders of a Romanian crime gang, with more than 50 Morrisons branches targeted.

When confronted by reporters in Bucharest, criminal leader Zeno Gugulan admitted that he sold some of the items to the Bedford-based wholesaler and various car boot sales.

A representative of the wholesaler also told an undercover Romanian journalist posing as a thief that the company could sell its stolen goods “all over the world,”, but later denied selling stolen items.

Two of the four suspects, Robert-claudiu Alexe and Elena-brindusa Efta, were arrested and sentenced to 27 months and 18 months in prison respectively.
