Wholesalers have set cut off dates for disposable vape sales ahead of the 1 June ban, with some firms potentially creating a rush for retailers to secure remaining stock.
A Nisa spokesperson confirmed to our sister website Better Retailing it would not be distributing disposable vapes to retailers “following the first week in May.”
They added: “Nisa is working closely with suppliers from a legislation perspective and with key vape suppliers to provide support through the upcoming transition. Guidance will be shared with retailers on suggested alternative lines.
“Nisa is providing advice and support to retailers to ensure compliance before the June deadline. This includes suggesting recommended alternatives and providing advice on how to spot illegal vape products. Nisa will provide a guide to retailers with a suggested in-store process to help manage stock levels.”
Meanwhile, our sister website Better Retailing understands Booker will be stopping sales to retailers in March or April. The wholesaler is working closely with individual suppliers on sell through of remaining lines ahead of the new restriction.
A Spar spokesperson added: “In preparation for the upcoming legislation banning all disposable vaping products from 1 June, Spar’s five regional wholesalers are conducting a thorough review of all disposable vaping products to ensure full compliance across the organisation.
“Comprehensive support and guidance from industry trade bodies have been shared with all stores to assist with the transition and ensure adherence to the new regulations.”
A Parfetts spokesperson added it would announce plans for support in the coming weeks
