Confex held their 5th Trade Show at the Four Pillars Hotel in Gloucestershire on Thursday 1st May. Attendees took advantage of over 500 special deals from 90 suppliers ranging across retail and foodservice with products including ambient, chilled and frozen.
The day was preceded by a Charity Golf event which raised £2,080 for the Alzheimer’s Association and Cancer Research. This was followed by an Awards Dinner where AtoZ Catering (pictured) was presented with the Green Wholesaler of the Year Award.
11 new members have joined Confex in the past year, the newest being Intamarque based in Tewkesbury, bringing the group turnover up to over £1.8 billion. Turnover in Central Distribution meanwhile grew again in 2013 to £18 million.
Confex has a target of 10% growth this year.
At the start of 2014 it strengthen its links with Landmark by announcing that Central Distribution would be supplying the Landmark Lifestyle and Caterers Kitchen own label ranges to members.
In response to demand from members Confex is growing its grocery offering and launched the Grocerysaver in February. The group is in discussion with several potential new members with the aim of hitting £1.9 billion in turnover by the end of the year.
