A new technology that signposts promotions to shoppers is to be introduced in all of the Today’s Group symbol stores after the group signed up to the Big Deals Local (BigDL) app.
The app flags up retail promotions in stores local to consumers, and encourages symbol members to drive more shoppers into their stores. It works through IBeacon technology and devices will soon be introduced to all Today’s symbol group stores, allowing the app to send out notifications about promotions to shoppers within a radius of their local Today’s store.
In addition, the technology will provide symbol stores with the capability to accept electronic coupons that will also be available exclusively to consumers on the Big DL app. John Kinney, Today’s Group retail director, said: “Promotional leaflets are really important, but there’s a whole customer demographic that doesn’t respond to leaflets. This will put our retailers’ offers straight into the hands of consumers, driving sales and footfall.”
BigDL is an app with local deals, offers, coupons and vouchers from across the high street. The app gives users access to the latest mobile couponing technology, which alerts them to live discount offers while they are shopping.
