Bestway and Batleys staff joined together to celebrate the success of independent retailers at the group’s thirteenth annual Retail Development Awards.
The event rewarded retailers from across the UK with a shared prize fund of £32,000. Overall winner of the night was Abdul Rashid of Salina Mini Market in New Stevenson who scooped the top prize of £10,000.
Hosts Zameer Choudrey, chief executive of Bestway, said: “Wholesale is no longer just about shifting boxes. It’s about being collaborative and developing partnerships at customer level. Driving up store standards is critical to the development of the independent channel.”
The awards were the culmination of the Retail Development Programme run by Bestway which includes three two-day workshops in which retailers are challenged to go back to their stores and implement what they learned from the sessions. Awards were given to those who excelled.
