The Caterfood Buying Group is looking to become the biggest buying group in the UK by implementing a “powerful and defined vision, mission and strategy for the future of the Group.”
Revealing this at the company’s annual conference, it also discussed the 120 strong Caterfood Collection range, as well as the growth in its central team personnel, which now help service eight members, following Turner Price joining this year.

Commercial director Tom Workman, appointed in May, said: “Over the last year, we’ve been busy putting everything in place that we need to enable us to act as a serious and sophisticated buying group. We now have the most fantastic people, products and suppliers working together under one vision, and we have better aligned our systems where we can, maximising efficiencies across the Group.
“We still have highly ambitious and exciting plans to continue our growth trajectory: to become the biggest buying group in the UK, to acquire new Members, and to reach even more customers. We strongly believe that, together, that is still possible. Even in the challenging trading conditions that 2025 looks set to bring us. By doing things differently and in the Caterfood Buying Group way,” he added.
Following the strategy updates, delegates met with 50 different foodservice suppliers over the two days, exploring a mixture of new lines and best sellers from across the CFBG.
Awards
The CFBG 2024 Annual Awards then took place with a brand-new format, reflective of the increased size and scale of the Group. Instead of celebrating three core award categories for each Member, this was the first time employees from each Member had gone ‘head-to-head’ for the awards.
In addition, for the first time, there was an overall CFBG Business of the Year, which was won by Chester-based Nicol Hughes, as well as a Supplier of the Year Award, which was awarded to La Lorraine.
