Confex has welcomed Scottish wholesalers Cressco and Metro Cash and Carry as its two newest members, with the buy-in group also reporting strong growth in what is its 50th year as a business.
“Confex is delighted to report YTD, the group is up 72% value & 78% volume,” said a statement. “Which shows the resilience of the diverse membership and takes it to the landmark figure of £3bn combined turnover. New Members Cresso and Metro Cash and Carry, adding a further £50m to this.”

The Cress Company (Cressco) is a fine food distributor based in Dunfermline, whilst Metro Cash and Carry are a Glasgow-based foodservice operation servicing restaurants, cafes and takeaways which specialise ethnic and continental produce, along with a wide range of packaging and cleaning products.
The latter’s managing director Abrar Ahmad, said: “We are particularly excited to join Confex to access the CORE range, and work more closely with top suppliers. Metro Cash and Carry are looking forward to adding a variety of fresh lines to our offering and we look forward to working with Confex to grow our business.”
