Cooks&Co has launched a range of cooking wines with an ABV of under 1.2% into the foodservice market. It comes as a response to legislation imposed last year which placed a duty on any alcoholic drinks with an ABV greater than 1.2%
The brand owner RH Amar is listing the product in wholesale nationwide in 3 litre white and red bag-in-box variants. It is made it through a cooking process of low-temperature heating and vacuum distillation that reduces the alcoholic content.
Cooks&Co brand manager Anne-Marie Cannon said: “We have worked closely with our supplier to create a unique process that really is the holy grail when it comes to producing duty-free cooking wines that meet the new tax thresholds, while not compromising on taste in any way.”
Cooks&Co has also produced a four-page booklet containing information about the range with recipe inspirations for the foodservice channel, such as Classic Moules Mariniere, Seafood Pasta, Braised lamb shanks with red wine gravy and Poached Peeled Pears.
