Hugo Mahoney has been named the new CEO of Brakes UK.
Mahoney joined Brakes ten months ago as chief commercial officer, having previously worked for Coca-Cola, data analytics firm LexisNexis, and accounting software giant Sage.
He replaces Ton Christiaanse, who stepped down after just nine months in the role towards the end of last year.
Ajoy Karna, senior vice president, international – Europe at Brakes owner Sysco, said: “Since joining Brakes, Hugo has demonstrated that he has the leadership qualities required to lead Brakes on the next step of its journey. His broad range of experience gives us a different perspective on our opportunities as well as our challenges and both we, and our customers, are already seeing the benefits of this.”
Speaking of his new role, which is effective from this Thursday (1 March), Mahoney said: “Brakes is a great business and with the power of Sysco behind us, the investment that has been made over the past few years sets us in very good stead to continue building a great future. We fully expect to enhance our position as the UK’s leading delivered wholesaler and our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner.”
