Spar UK Managing Director Debbie Robinson has kept her cool for charity by taking on the popular ice bucket challenge – and raising £500 for Motor Neurone Disease.
The SPAR Central Office team, led by their MD, took on the challenge at the annual Spar National Golf Day at Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire on 28 August with the help of some Spar friends.
Debbie has since nominated all five Spar wholesalers to take on the ice-cold feat!
The online video craze has raised both a huge amount of funds and awareness of Motor Neurone Disease – making it a worthwhile challenge to take on, said Robinson.
“So many people have taken part in this fantastic campaign so far this summer – including a huge number of employees of Spar stores up and down the country,” said Robinson.
“We now challenge all five Spar Guilds to complete the challenge next!”
The summer of 2014 has seen a host of A-list celebrities and business leaders drenching themselves in buckets of ice and water to raise awareness of the disease, which affects around 5,000 people in the UK.
After each star has filmed themselves enduring several seconds of icy pain, they then nominate several more well-known figures to undergo the same feat.
