Walkers ‘Win a Van’ competition supports retailers for the seventh year

As part of its ongoing commitment to support retailers and the wholesale sector, Walkers once again partnered with Bestway to bring back its ‘Win a Van’ competition for the seventh year running. New for this year, the winning retailer was able to customise their prize – a Nissan Townstar EV L1 90kW Acenta Electric Van – by wrapping the van with their existing business name and logo, helping them promote their business in the local area.

Winner of this year’s competition, Amrit Kaur, from MAAN Newsagent in Halesowen says: “As an independent retailer, winning the ‘Win a Van’ competition has been a game-changer for my business. I was so excited to win a fantastic Nissan Townstar Electric Van which has already made a huge difference to the day-to-day running’s of my store. The support from PepsiCo is invaluable, and this competition is a brilliant way for retailers like me to gain more recognition and grow our businesses. I’m proud to be part of this incredible initiative!”

Ed Merrett, wholesale controller at PepsiCo, recently visited Bestway’s Park Royal depot to chat with the wholesaler’s group trading director Kenton Burchell about the competition and the company’s wider work within the wholesale channel. Merrett and Burchell both agreed that initiatives like ‘Win A Van’ shouldn’t just be a one off but are a way to show ongoing support for their customers. “It’s important that we continue to develop the competition and our initiative with Bestway to keep retailers engaged year after year and drive savoury snack sales for our wholesale partner,” Merrett said.

Merrett pointed out that within convenience outlets, 50% of shoppers purchase savoury snacks[1], adding that the van is a gateway for a multitude of possibilities for a business and PepsiCo is proud to support retailers in this way.

Burchell added: “The ‘Win a Van’ competition has been a tremendous success since its launch in 2017 and has consistently delivered strong results for our depots, whilst offering a tempting incentive for retailers to stock up on key savoury snacking products. We are delighted to once again partner with PepsiCo and see it as another significant milestone in our relationship with them.”
